There was a fish that lived in deep blue water, way out in the ocean. It wasn’t just any fish—it was the most beautiful one I’d ever seen in the ocean. His scales were different shades of blue, green, and purple, and they sparkled with silver. Some of his scales looked like they were made of glitter.
The other fish were shocked by how beautiful he looked. “Rainbow Fish” was what they called him. They would tell the rainbow fish, “Come on, come play with us!” But he would just glide by with his head held high and his mouth closed, letting the light shine off his scales.

One day, a small blue fish followed him around and chased after him.
