The Phantom Hitchhiker | Ghost Story
It was a dark and stormy night, and four teenagers were driving home from a late-night movie. As they drove down a deserted road, they saw a figure in the distance, holding out their thumb.
“Should we give him a ride?” asked Mark, the driver.
“Sure, why not?” said Jess, the adventurous one.
The teens pulled over, and the hitchhiker climbed into the backseat. He was a tall, thin man with dark hair and a long coat.
“Thanks for stopping,” said the hitchhiker. “I’m headed to the next town over.”
As they drove, the rain poured down harder, and the wind howled outside. The hitchhiker was quiet, only occasionally thanking them for the ride.
But as they approached the town, the hitchhiker suddenly disappeared. The teens were shocked, looking around the car frantically.
“Where did he go?” asked Lisa, the cautious one.
“I don’t know,” said Mark, pulling over. “He was just here.”
They searched the car, but there was no sign of the hitchhiker. They shrugged it off as just their imagination and drove off.
But as they drove further, strange things began to happen. The radio turned on by itself, blaring static, and the car began to shake violently.
“What’s going on?” shouted Jess.
And then they saw him. The hitchhiker was standing in the middle of the road, his eyes glowing red.
“You shouldn’t have picked me up,” he hissed.
The teens screamed and tried to drive away, but the car wouldn’t start. The hitchhiker began to walk towards them, his body becoming more and more transparent with each step.
As he reached the car, he disappeared into thin air. The teens were shaken, but unharmed.
“I think we just gave a ride to a phantom hitchhiker,” said Lisa, her voice shaking.
The teens drove away, vowing to never pick up another hitchhiker again.
