John The Baptist, And Jesus | Bible Story
The people of Israel said that a strange wild man lived on the banks of the river Jordan. He wore a dress made of camel hair and tied it with a leather belt. He ate wild honey and locusts to live.
They went to the river and found John, the son of Elizabeth. He was a cousin of Jesus. He called out to the people to repent for all their evil ways and wrong-doing. He asked them to confess their sins, and he baptized them with a dip in the Jordan as a token of washing away their sins.
He said he would baptize them to prepare the path to salvation. That was possible only after their sins were washed away.
I have come to tell you that someone who is mightier than I will come. “I am not fit to unlace his shoes, but he will come and baptize you, not with water, but with the Holy Spirit!” declared John. He came to be known everywhere as John the Baptist, and his voice spread throughout the wilderness until it reached the far corners of Israel. More and more people came to him to confess and to wash away their sins.
One day, Jesus came to him from Galilee to be baptized. John recognized him immediately as the Saviour.
He said he would baptize them to prepare the path to salvation. That was possible only after their sins were washed away.
